Agartala, April 23 -- With last year's flood fury a grim reminder, the Tripura government has launched an extensive embankment repair and construction of drainage worth Rs 150 crore across the state, said Water Resources and PWD secretary Kiran Gitte.
"We are focusing on the embankment management to prevent flooding and taking up cleaning of all 12 rivers in the state to ensure free water flow. A total of 44 vulnerable embankment sites have been identified, and protection work has commenced," Gitte said.
