Agartala, Sept. 27 -- Tripura's Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, announced today that efforts are underway to establish the state as self-sufficient in mushroom production through organic cultivation.

While addressing a training camp with as many as 53 Farmer-Producer Companies (FPCs), the minister said that the number of FPCs in the state has dramatically increased from just 4 prior to 2018 to 53.

"Mushrooms are not just a food source; they're a superfood rich in Vitamin D, iron, and other vital nutrients. This is an important agricultural product. States like Bihar, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu are leading in mushroom cultivation," Nath stated.
