Agartala, Aug. 1 -- In a major bid to increase rice productivity, Tripura has set a target of cultivating hybrid rice across 25,200 hectares during the ongoing Kharif season, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said.
He informed that in 2024-25, hybrid rice was cultivated in 35,000 hectares across the state: 8,630 hectares in the Kharif season, and 26,370 hectares in the Rabi season.
The Minister said around 30 lakh kani of land in Tripura is under cultivation of various horticultural crops, while paddy is grown on around 15 lakh kani annually. Of this, Aman paddy accounts for 9.01 lakh kani, Boro paddy for 3.94 lakh kani, and jhum cultivation is carried out on around 85, 000 kani of land throughout the year.
