Agartala, July 3 -- Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of two separate incidents of alleged ragging at hostels in West Tripura and Khowai districts. The THRC directed authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and submit reports by July 24. The allegations surfaced that the students have been facing physical and mental harassment at the boys' hostel of the renowned Umakanta Academy in Agartala. Taking note of media reports, THRC chairperson Justice Arindam Lodh directed DGP, DM of West Tripura, and the Director of School Education to submit a detailed account.
