Agartala, Dec. 1 -- Tripura Raj Bhawan has been officially renamed Lok Bhawan, following a decision by the central government as a gesture of respect for democracy, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu said.
"The name 'Raj Bhawan' carries connotations of monarchy, whereas we are part of a democratic system. In a country where governments are elected by the people to serve their welfare, 'Lok Bhawan' is appropriate to honour the citizens," Nallu stated.
Officials added that Lok Bhawan will be open to the public every Friday, allowing citizens to visit during specified hours. Going forward, all properties, official letterheads, documents, signage, and digital platforms associated with the Governor's office will bear the name Lok Bhawan.
