Agartala, Sept. 11 -- The Tripura government has also sent a proposal to the centre for a GI tag for Tripura Agar, the main ingredient for manufacturing perfume, a high-value product in Middle East countries, said Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath here today.
He said the Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Department and Forest Departments have embarked on a plan to establish Agar nurseries by bringing them under agroforestry and to distribute saplings among people free of cost to convert wasteland into Agar trees, ensuring the boost of rural economy.
