Agartala, Feb. 13 -- Tripura's Social Welfare and Social Education Minister, Tinku Roy, claimed that more than 700 child marriages were prevented in the state over the past year, calling it a significant milestone in the government's campaign against the practice.

"Child marriage remains a serious social challenge, and the government is committed to eliminating it," Roy said, highlighting strengthened legal enforcement, improved monitoring, and expanded outreach initiatives to protect minors from early marriage.

Roy urged local authorities, community leaders, parents, and residents to collaborate at the grassroots level to sustain progress and safeguard the rights of girls.
