Agartala, Sept. 9 -- The Ethics Committee of the Tripura Legislative Assembly yesterday resolved to drop the proceedings against BJP MLA Jadab Lal Nath, who was accused of watching inappropriate content on his mobile phone inside the House during the budget session in March 2023.

Assembly sources said the decision was not unanimous, as four of the nine committee members supported the move. Meanwhile, MLAs from TIPRA Motha, who are now allied with the ruling BJP, were absent from the meeting, along with two CPI-M legislators.

The CPI-M legislators Nayan Sarkar and Ramu Das highlighted their claims of being pressured to sign the recommendation papers, which they ultimately declined.
