Agartala, July 27 -- Loksabha Member from Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb, after holding a review meeting with the officials in Udaipur today, said that he has requested Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to approve the construction of national highways in the state using reinforced cement concrete (RCC) instead of bitumen.
Expressing concern over the recurring damage to roads in Tripura, Deb said, "Due to incessant rainfall across the Northeast, especially in Tripura, roads constructed with bitumen are being severely damaged. I requested him to consider RCC roads in Tripura to ensure durability and reduce maintenance costs."
