Agartala, June 20 -- The Tripura government on Friday announced an upward revision in the minimum wages for tea garden workers. The daily payment has been increased from Rs 176 to Rs 204 for each adult worker and Rs 88 to Rs 102 for minors, said Labour Minister Tinku Roy.

He said the last wage revision was made in January 2018, when the rate was raised from Rs 105 to Rs 176 for adults and Rs 52.50 to Rs 88 for minors. However, considering the hike in price index and inflation, a 10-member committee under the chairmanship of MLA Swapna Das Pal was constituted.

The committee, formed for a six-month term, was tasked with evaluating all aspects of the wage structure in the tea garden sector. The panel held its first meeting on May 28, where ...
