Agartala, Dec. 19 -- Tripura has stepped up its focus on rainwater harvesting to ensure long-term water availability and support sustainable agriculture, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said today. The remarks came after a meeting on the Watershed Development Project under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY).
Minister Nath highlighted that while groundwater usage remains at safe levels, ongoing initiatives aim to preserve water resources for future generations. The PMKSY seeks to enhance rainwater storage through watersheds, check dams, ponds, and plantations, empowering communities to achieve greater self-sufficiency in water management.
