Agartala, Oct. 9 -- Tripura Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today rolled out the government's free ration distribution programme across the state.
The month-long Sharad Utsav celebrations, which began on September 21 with Mahalaya, will conclude on October 20 with Diwali.
Under the scheme, families holding ration cards will receive 2 kg of flour, 1 kg of sugar, and 500 grams of semolina free of cost. The state government has allocated Rs 7 crore for the initiative, which is expected to benefit around 9.90 lakh families.
