Agartala, May 28 -- Tripura government on Wednesday issued an advisory asking all Districts Magistrates to activate emergency services and put them on alert as the state is likely to witness extremely heavy rainfall from May 28 to 31.

The order stated that a Special Weather Bulletin of IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall and squally and gusty winds very likely to occur over Tripura in next four days.

It mentioned that the extreme weather and heavy rainfall may be caused by a low-pressure area that has developed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast.
