Agartala, Dec. 30 -- The death of Tripura's Anjel Chakma in Dehradun last week, after 17 days of battle in the hospital after facing a brutal racial attack by a group including one each from Manipur and Nepal, student bodies continued their agitation seeking justice and formulation of a law for the protection of northeastern people in mainland India.

The Tripura government on Tuesday announced a one-time financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to Anjel's family, saying all efforts will be made to ensure justice to the family.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami last evening spoke to Anjel's father, a BSF jawan, Tarun Chakma, and shared his grief and pain over the incident.
