Agartala, April 14 -- In celebration of Bengali New Year (Poila Boishakh) on Tuesday, the Tripura Fisheries Department has announced to sell 6,000 kilograms of fish across the state at a subsidised rate.
Speaking to the media, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das acknowledged that while the quantity may not fully meet public demand, the initiative aims to provide high-quality fish at affordable prices as part of an annual tradition.
"The fish will be sourced directly from government-run farms and made available at 21 designated sales points across all eight districts from 8 AM onwards tomorrow," Das said.
