Agartala, Oct. 29 -- The council of ministers in Tripura, in a meeting, approved two significant initiatives aimed at combating child marriage and fostering women's entrepreneurship, besides a decision to enhance recruitment.
The Cabinet spokesman and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said Chief Minister Balika Samriddhi Yojana, falls under Social Welfare and Social Education department.
The program seeks to discourage child marriage and promote girls' education.
As part of the scheme, families classified as Antyodaya can receive a fixed deposit of Rs 50,000 for each of their two daughters at birth. This amount can be claimed once the girl reaches 18 years of age, provided she remains unmarried until then.
