Agartala, Jan. 7 -- A group of surrendered militants on Wednesday threatened a mass movement against the Tripura government, alleging that Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma had failed to honour his commitment to hold discussions with them to resolve their issues.

The group demanded immediate implementation of a Rs 23 crore project under a scheme for pre-1998 returnees, out of the total Rs 45 crore allocated by the previous Left Front government.

They also sought restoration of the originally sanctioned amount of Rs 16,800 per beneficiary for fencing rubber saplings under the Chief Minister's Rubber Mission. The organisation alleged that the amount has been reduced to Rs 6,000, which they claimed is insufficient to complete the fenci...
