Kolkata, Sept. 2 -- Trinamool Congress councillor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), Shrabani Datta, has been relieved of her responsibilities as a member of the mayor-in-council.
The decision comes just two days after a controversy during a Ganesh idol immersion in her ward where she was allegedly found in an inebriated state and got into a clash with locals.
Announcing the decision, SMC Mayor Goutam Deb said, "Shrabani Datta, who was in charge of mid-day meals, child welfare, and women's welfare, has been relieved of her duties. The partytook this step after reviewing the circumstances."The incident occurred in Ward No. 14, from where Datta was elected on a Trinamool ticket.
