Kolkata, Oct. 16 -- The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) today directed all state ministers to donate Rs 1 lakh each from their salaries to the North Bengal Disaster Relief Fund.
The decision comes a day after the party's national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee contributed Rs 1 lakh to the fund, setting an example for others to follow.
According to party sources, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has personally donated Rs 5 lakh to the West Bengal State Disaster Management Authority (WBSMDA) fund, which was set up to aid relief and rehabilitation in the flood and landslide-hit districts of North Bengal.
