Chennai, July 13 -- Close on the heels of arrest of seven fishermen by Lankan Navy, seven others managed to swim to shore safely after their boat was damaged after being hit by a Sri Lankan patrol boat in the high seas today.

It was second consecutive incident that took place today and in both the incidents the fishermen hailed from Rameswaram.

After the arrest of seven fishers, soon another incident took place when their trawler, in which seven other fishermen, who ventured into the sea yesterday and were fishing near Neduntheevu, was hit by the Lankan patrol boat.

After spotting the fishermen, the patrol boat approached them to question them when the boat hit the trawler resulting in damage.
