Thane, Jan. 11 -- With the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections approaching, members of the transgender community have joined efforts to encourage citizens to turn up for voting, officials said on Sunday. Polling is scheduled on January 15.

On Saturday, transgender community members carried out voter awareness activities at various locations in the Vashi area. They distributed brochures issued by the election department of the Navi Mumbai civic body and interacted with residents, urging them to cast their votes.
