New Delhi, March 16 -- A collective of transgender and queer activists from across India has called for the withdrawal of the proposed amendments to the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026, alleging that the changes undermine rights guaranteed by the NALSA v. union of India.

The activists said the Bill, introduced in the Lok Sabha on March 13 by union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar, seeks to amend provisions of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, is restrictive in nature.
