Transfers to deter best from joining judiciary, advocates warn
Bengaluru, April 23 -- The ongoing transfer of High Court judges across states could have long-term ramifications for the judiciary, with senior advocates warning that such moves are discouraging competent lawyers from accepting judgeships.
"Many competent advocates are declining to become judges.. This will make it worse," former Advocate General B V Acharya said here on Wednesday, voicing concern over the recent transfer of four judges from the Karnataka High Court following a Supreme Court Collegium order.
"It is not general practice for several judges to be transferred at the same time," he added.
