Kolkata, Sept. 20 -- Train services in the South Eastern Railway (SER) were affected today in massive proportion forcing the authorities either cancel several express trains, diversion, short termination and controlling the movement following "rail roko" agitation resorted by the Kurmi caste organisations across Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha demanding tribal status in the constitution.
The several Kurmi organisations have launched an indefinite "rail roko" which began today in about 100 railway stations spreading across bordering states of Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal, even as the railway authorities and state police forces geared up to maintain the peace in view increasing tension owing to the agitation.
