Deoria, Sept. 15 -- On the auspicious occasion of Jivitputrika Vrat, a festival where mothers fast and pray for the long life of their children, three young boys and girls drowned in separate incidents in Deoria district, turning a day of devotion into one of deep mourning.
The first incident took place in Gulharia village under Gauribazar police station limits.
A newly constructed pond in Devgaon had become a gathering point for women observing the fast, who had arrived with their children to perform ritualistic bathing today.
