Bahraich, Oct. 21 -- What was meant to be an evening of celebration turned into a scene of chaos and grief in Bahraich, as a sudden firecracker explosion left one teenager dead and another critically injured, police said today.
The incident occurred in the Indira Nagar locality near Chandrashekhar Azad Balika Inter College on Station Road yesterday, where several temporary stalls had been set up for Diwali firecracker sales.
According to eyewitnesses, two youths, Virendra (16), son of Kamla Prasad, and Manish (18), son of Anant Ram, both the residents of Bangla Pakdi village (Jahanachak), were exiting the house of local firecracker vendor Aman Garg after purchasing firecrackers.
