New Delhi, Dec. 20 -- A dense layer of toxic smog engulfed the national capital on Saturday as the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) invoked all actions under GRAP Stage-IV across Delhi-NCR amid worsening air quality.
Delhi's air quality has hit a dangerous high, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 535, signaling a "Hazardous" level and an extreme public health emergency.
Hazrat Nizamuddin recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 408, classified as 'Severe', with severely reduced visibility, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Similar conditions were reported at Akshardham, where the AQI touched 420, also in the 'Severe' category.
