Kullu, Jan. 29 -- A road accident was averted on Thursday on the Bhuntar-Manikaran road in Kullu district when a private tourist bus skidded near Chhannikhod due to icy and dilapidated road conditions, official sources said.
The bus, carrying a large number of tourists, reportedly lost control while negotiating a slippery stretch, sources said. For a few tense moments, the vehicle teetered dangerously close to the edge of the road, raising fears that it could plunge into the Parvati river flowing deep below.
However, the bus ultimately came to a halt after hitting the roadside embankment, averting a major tragedy.
