Shillong, Oct. 15 -- Total curfew has been imposed along the entire Assam-Meghalaya border areas within West Jaintia Hills district on October 16 and 17, to pre-empt any law-and-order situation, an official said here today.
The West Jaintia Hills district administration had clamped night curfew in those areas on October 9 after a violent clash between villagers of both sides left one tribal Karbi villager dead at Lapangap bordering Karbi Anglong district in Assam.
The night curfew was imposed from 6 pm to 10 am and was in vogue till today, however in view of the deteriorating law and order situation, the district administration has taken further action.
