Pune, July 26 -- Torrential rainfall has been lashing the Pavana Maval region for the past 48 hours, leading to a sharp rise in Pavana dam's water level.
To control the increasing inflow, authorities have begun to discharge 7,140 cusecs of water in the area at 11 am today.
As a result, the bridge near Kothurne on the Pavana river and the Swayambhu temple at Kale have been submerged. Currently, water is being released from the Pavana dam into the river at a rate of 7,410 cusecs.
The Central Flood Control Cell in Pune has urged residents in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area to remain cautious.
