Madrid, Sept. 25 -- Top Spanish cyclist Juan Ayuso has confirmed he will leave UAE Team Emirates to join Lidl-Trek.
The Spaniard had announced during the recent Vuelta a Espana that he would depart UAE at the end of 2025, despite being under contract until 2028.
Rumors linked him with Lidl-Trek, but confirmation came on Wednesday with the announcement that the 23-year-old, who won two stages in the Vuelta amid speculation over his future, has signed with the American team until 2030.
The move is expected to give him more opportunities in grand tours. At UAE, Ayuso played a supporting role, helping Joao Almeida to second place in the Vuelta, while four-time Tour deFrance winner Tadej Pogacar remains the team's undisputed leader.
