New York, Aug. 27 -- The first round of the 2025 US Open singles events concluded on Tuesday with defending champion Jannik Sinner, as well as top contenders Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka all securing convincing victories.
Men's top seed Sinner delivered a masterclass, dismantling Vit Kopriva of the Czech Republic 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 in just 98 minutes.
"It feels great to be back here. It's a very special tournament," said Sinner.
No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev also advanced in straight sets, winning 6-2, 7-6(4), 6-4 against Chile's Alejandro Tabilo.
