Mumbai, Oct. 14 -- Top Maoist leader, 70-year-old Mallojula Venugopal Rao, who has a bounty of more than Rs 10 crore on his head, is reported to have surrendered today along with 60 other Maoists, somewhere in the forests of Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. However, the Maharashtra Home Affairs Department headed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has not issued any official statement yet about the reported surrender.

So far, only the Gadchiroli police made an informal statement to a section of the media about the reported surrender of the top CPI (Maoist) politburo member, who is also known by his aliases "Sonu" and "Bhupathi".
