Chennai, Oct. 23 -- With the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) signaling its intent for a better bargain in the 2026 Assembly election, Congress Whip in Parliament Manickam Tagore today sent a strong, veiled message to the ruling DMK, stating that only those who accord due respect to the party could become the Chief Minister of the state.
Speaking to reporters in his constituency, Virudhunagar, Tagore asserted: "Becoming Chief Minister is possible only if the Congress is given due respect; otherwise, remain content at being former Chief Minister." He added that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi would campaign for victory only if the Congress is treated with respect.
