Chennai, March 12 -- Three incidents of sexual assault on girls, including two school students--one of them was later found murdered--in the last two days has sent shock waves in Tamil Nadu, triggering public outrage and strong condemnation from Opposition parties on Thursday.

A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and murdered at Vilathikulam in southern Thoothukudi district last evening, while a 14-year-old school student was allegedly raped by two youths at Madurantakam, about 100 km from Chennai in Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu and was abandoned in a secluded area.
