Durgapur, Dec. 11 -- Tamil Nadu's P. V. Nandhidhaa maintained her lead with 7.5 points, followed by Shubhi Gupta from Uttar Pradesh with 7 points at the end of the 8th round of the 51st National Women's Chess Championship being held at the Sidhu Kanhu Stadium here on Wednesday.
At the end of the day favourites P V Nandhidaa maintained her lead with 7.5 points and she was closely followed by WFM Shubhi Gupta (7) of UP and for the 3rd spot there were 3 players with 6.5 points each.
On the first board. P V Nandhidaa played a wonderful game against Velpula Sarayu and won in 55 moves.
On the second board, Shubhi Gupta outplayed WFM Kalyani Sirin from Kerala to maintain 2nd spot.
