Chennai, Feb. 28 -- Tamil Nadu's first Dark Sky Park for stargazing was launched at at Ariyur Shola Reserve Forest in Kolli Hills in Namakkal district of the State on Saturday.

This unique initiative was launched by the Minister for Forests R. S. Rajakannappan in the presence of Ms Supriya Sahu, Addtional Chief Secretary, Department of Forests, Environment and Climate Change and other officials.

The Dark Sky Park is a designated landscape protected from artificial light pollution, allowing clear observation of celestial bodies including the moon, stars, planets and other astronomical phenomena, an official release said.
