Chennai, Dec. 25 -- The Tamil Nadu government has issued a high alert and enhancedsurveillance in the wake of outbreak of avian influenze at Alappuzha and Kottayam districtsin neighbouring Kerala.
All the districts bordering Kerala were put on high alert and surveillance has been intensified.
As part of strengthening monitoring mechanisms, all vehicles from Kerala are sanitized/disinfectedand anyone coming with symptoms of cough, cold and fever are immediately subjected to healthchecks to ensure that the virus did not spill over to Tamil Nadu.
The health department officials said surveillance teams were also kept in a state of readiness torespond swiftly if any suspected cases are reported.
