Chennai, Oct. 28 -- The Tamil Nadu government today denied reports in a sectionof the media that environmental clearance and plan approval were granted for amulti-storeyed building project within the Pallikaranai Reserve Forest Ramsar Sitein the city.
A statement from the Environment, Climate Change and Forest Department saidin this regard, a )Marshland/Reserve Forest, Ramsar Site and a Wetland are threeseparate and different classifications.
A Ramsar site designated under the Convention on Wetlands, 1971 shall further benotified as a "wetland" under the Wetlands (Conservation and Management) Rules,2017 as per the legal process.
