Chennai, Oct. 8 -- Marking another milestone in its journey of biodiverityprotection, the Tamil Nadu Government today notified Nagamalai Hillock inErode District, spanning 32.22.50 hectares, as the State's fourth BiodiversityHeritage Site (BHS).
It was notified under Section 37(1) of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002,Ms Supriya Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary, Environment, Climate Changeand Forest Department, announced today.
By declaring Nagamalai Hillock as a Biodiversity Heritage Site, TamilNadu reaffirms its leadership in conservation and sustainable heritagemanagement, safeguarding the biodiversity, ecological role, and culturalsignificance of this landscape for future generations, she said.
