New Delhi, Aug. 4 -- The Tamil Nadu government today approached the Supreme Court challenging a Madras High Court interim order that prohibits the use of names and photographs of living political leaders, including former Chief Ministers and ideological figures, in advertisements for government welfare schemes.
The plea was urgently mentioned before a bench led by Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai.
Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the state, sought immediate relief. The Court agreed to list the matter for hearing on Wednesday.
