Chennai, Dec. 8 -- In the wake of deaths of two elephants after being translocated intothe forest areas, The Tamil Nadu government today formed a 6-member Expert Committeeto develop a comprehensive Set of Protocols (SOP) on capture, translocation and releaseof wild animals.
The Committee would be headed by A. Udhayan, Principal Chief Conservator of Forestsand Director, Advanced Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC), Chennai, as theChairperson.
The other members of the panel are Anurag Mishra, Principal Chief Conservator ofForests and Special Secretary (ECC), Environment, Climate Change and ForestDepartment, N. Vengatesh Prabhu, District Forest Officer, Gudalur Division TheNilgiris district, Dr. K. Kalaivanan, Forest Veterinary Office...
