Chennai, March 14 -- Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu
on Friday announced that a new policy on Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming,
Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) is being developed in collaboration
with industry experts.
Presenting the Budget for the year 2025-26 in the State Assembly, he said
to leverage the growing business opportunities in this emerging sector and
to create high-end employment for Tamil Nadu's youth, the Government through
the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (ELCOT) will set up an
AVGC-XR Centre of Excellence in Chennai named 'Viyan AVGC-XR Hub' at
an estimated cost of Rs.50 crore.
