Chennai, Feb. 17 -- Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thenarasu today presented the Interim Budget for 2026-27with a revenue deficit of Rs. 48,696.32 crore in the state assemblySince the state is all set to face the assembly elections in two months, the DMK government presented the Interim Budgetand the full budget would be presented after the next government assume office.

He also said the government plans to borrow a total amount of Rs.1,79,809.65 crore during 2026-27 taking to total debt to Rs.10,71,770.34 crore as on 31.3.2027.

During FY27 the government will make repayment of Rs.60,413.42 crore of debt.

Mr Thenarasu said the state's total revenue receipts including Central Transfers are estimated to be Rs.3,44,575.31 for 2026-27(R...
