Ramanathapuram (Tamil Nadu), Feb. 19 -- Tamil Nadu 'Q' branch sleuths seized 25 kilograms of charas, meant for smuggling to Sri Lanka via sea route at Kunjarvalasai hamlet near Mandapam in Ramanathapuram district on Tuesday midnight.
Police said here on Wednesday that acting on a tip off, the Q branch police intercepted a two-wheeler during a vehicle check on the Vedalai Beach Road.
Two men, riding the two-wheeler identified as B.Nambu (37) and V.Pandi (35) were found possessing Charas, a narcotic substance extracted from Cannabis resin.
The seized narcotics were valued several Crores of rupees in the International market and the duo was attempting to smuggle the contraband to Sri Lanka in a clandestine boat.
