Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu), May 5 -- In a tragic incident, the husband and mother of a woman met a watery grave while attempting to save her from drowning in a well at Elayirampannai village near Sattur in this Southern district of Tamil Nadu on Monday.
Police said the deceased were identified as Rajammal (66) and her son-in-law Raja (41).
Raja's wife Maheswari (35) while washing clothes, accidentally fell into the well and shouted for help.
On hearing her scream, Rajammal and Raja jumped into the well to rescue her, but both of them drowned.
Maheswari was rescued by the locals and admitted to the Sattur government hospital.
The bodies were retrieved and sent to the hospital for post-mortem.
