Thoothukudi (Tamil Nadu), March 7 -- The Coastal Security Group (CSG) of Tamil Nadu Marine Police on Friday seized 800 kg of sea cucumbers, an endangered marine species meant for smuggling to Sri Lanka from a godown at Pudukottai in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu.
Police said acting on information, the CSG personnel raided the godown, where they seized the marine species.
Two persons were detained in connection with the seizure.
The impounded sea cucumbers were handed over to the forest officials for legal action.
The seized sea cucumbers, valued at more than Rs 50 lakh in the international market, were meant for smuggling to Sri Lanka via sea route.
