Pudukottai (Tamil Nadu), April 30 -- A lower court in Pudukottai on Wednesday awarded the death penalty to a 40-year-old man in a murder for gain case of 2021.
Noting that this was a rarest of the rare cases, Principal District and Sessions Judge J Chandran awarded the death sentence to Lakshmanan, after holding him guilty of murdering his close relative Loga Priya (22) and robbed her golden ornaments.
According to the prosecution, Lakshmanan visited the deceased when she was alone in her house during February 2021 and demanded money to settle his debts. When she refused to give money, the accused stabbed the woman with a scissor and a knife multiple times, killing her.
