Kolkata, Feb. 29 -- West Bengal ruling Trinamool Congress on Thursday suspended its leader Shahjahan Sheikh from the party for six years after he was arrested by police in connection with alleged attacks on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials at Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas.

Shahjahan was arrested on Wednesday night from Bamonkhola village at Minakhan, in 24 Parganas, exactly 56 days after he allegedly orchestrated attacks on the ED officials and CRPF jawans on January 5 when the central agencies went to his Sarberia home to probe an alleged ration distribution scam.
