Kolkata, Dec. 4 -- West Bengal ruling party Trinamool Congress on Thursday suspended party MLA Humayun Kabir from the party. The action has been taken after a political storm erupted over Bharatpur MLA's proposal to construct a replica of the Babri Masjid in Beldanga. The proposal for a replica of Babri Masjid by Humayun Kabir MLA had ignited controversy across West Bengal, drawing reactions both within and outside the party.

The decision to suspend Kabir from the party was announced by senior TMC leader and Kolkata Mayor, Firhad Hakim.
